- • 400–700 mm: The most versatile range. Excellent for large nebulae, galaxies, and star fields while remaining forgiving of tracking and atmospheric issues.
- • 700–1,000 mm: A sweet spot for many imagers, providing more image scale for galaxies and smaller deep-sky objects without excessive sensitivity to seeing.
- • 1,000–1,500 mm: Better suited for experienced astrophotographers using accurate mounts and imaging from locations with good atmospheric stability.
Beyond 1,500 mm, atmospheric turbulence and tracking precision become increasingly challenging, and the improvement depends heavily on excellent skies.
